If a Horse be Elfshot

This project was inspired by a cure written in Bald’s Leechbook, a 10th century english medical book. The book contains many interesting treatments and cures including how to cure a horse of elfshot disease, a condition caused by elf arrows! I created this pocket concertina book using a combination of embroidery on fabric and gouache paint. I took inspiration from illuminated manuscripts and anglicanum needlework from the medieval period.
